About ‘Black and red’ by Marloes Aerts

This painting speaks to the viewer, as if it were created in a single powerful stroke. The base consists of dark tones—black, grey and white—which lie on top of one another in solid blocks and strokes. In between, those deep red strips stand out sharply, almost as if they are trying to break through the dark layers. The red feels roughly applied; it splatters, scrapes and pushes, immediately lending the work a sense of tension.

The brushstrokes are thick and visible, allowing you to really feel the texture of the paint. The whole piece appears to be built up from layers that partly cover one another, partly reveal one another. This makes the painting lively, as if it is still in motion. The horizontal and vertical lines provide a kind of structure, but the red accents throw that order into disarray.

The atmosphere is intense, even a little mysterious. It feels as though something is bubbling beneath the surface – an emotion, a story, a moment of energy that isn’t quite fully expressed. It is the sort of work you keep looking at again and again, each time spotting a different detail you had missed before.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
