The image invites you to look further. What is this, anyway? What an unusual roof structure! Well it certainly is. You see this image when you look up in the middle of the bird observatory 'Tij' on the edge of the Haringvliet in the municipality of Stellendam (Holland). And a very special bird observatory at that. It is shaped like the eggs of the Great Tern. But then 8 meters high and 11 meters long. From the observatory you have a 360 degree view of a colony of these terns, but also of the vast Haringvliet and the Haringvliet Locks near Stellendam.
