This was one of the most difficult pictures I have ever created. We had spent three weeks in the French mountains with nothing except torrential rain and yet I went out every single day to see if I could create some images and to simply enjoy this place that I love so very much. The rain was simply pouring down and I had plastic sleeves for my camera in my pocket and a lot of spare plastic bags in case one got too wet. I used all of them...We came to the end of the forest and the path leads over a rocky path to the top of the mountain, but this meant we would get totally drenched and we had our dog with us, who was already looking like a tiny gremlin. We decided to go back and stay under the foliage and then I spotted this....a big foot in the forest, with claws spreading out over the rocky path and I had to take a picture. I had to press the shutter button numerous ties, because every time raindrops on the lens ruined the image and the I finally got this image and I was actually glad that it was raining which made the roots glisten and emphasized all the structures on it. I love the create inspirited, animated images as I came from a 3D animation background and created animated figures for almost 20 years before I finally chose photography as my main profession. This image combines my passion for the animated with a deep love of trees and nature
