About the artwork
Clinging to the slope like seashells to a rock, the little houses with their light-coloured walls and ochre-orange roofs form a cheerful Mediterranean checkerboard. Clean lines, simple volumes, and the light that sculpts each façade like a late afternoon caress.
In the background, the deep blue sea unfurls its infinite canvas, studded with white sailing ships that seem to be stuck in the horizon like needles on a sundial. Two slender pine trees overhang the scene, plant parasols with bright foliage framing this vivid picture of an endless summer.
