The Spree is a left tributary of the Havel River in eastern Germany, nearly 400 kilometers long, which flows through the far north of the Czech Republic for a short distance in its upper reaches.
The Berlin Palace (colloquially: City Palace) is located on the Spree Island in the Historic Center of Berlin. Partially burned out at the end of World War II in 1945, the palace was blown up in the GDR in 1950 despite international protests. After the private commitment of the Förderverein Berliner Schloss and other initiators, and following a resolution of the German Bundestag, the palace was rebuilt in 2013 until 2020.
The Berlin Cathedral at the Lustgarten on Museum Island is a Protestant church in Berlin's Mitte district. Built in 1894-1905 to designs by Julius Raschdorff in the Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque styles, the architectural monument is the largest Protestant church in Germany in terms of area and one of the most important dynastic burial places in Europe.
