About ‘Beach at low tide (Sea of Daubigny), Charles-François Daubigny’
Beach at low tide (Sea of Daubigny), Charles-François Daubigny
Daubigny painted this beautiful seascape at Villerville-sur-Mer in Normandy. On the empty beach, a single shell-finder walks with a basket on her back. The painters of the Hague School were great admirers of Daubigny. His broad brushstrokes and subtle colour nuances came in handy when depicting the Dutch landscape.
