Barge Excelsior on the New Maas River.
Old inland ships still sail through the port and across the country. Here the Excelsior sails on the Nieuwe Maas near the Waalhaven. The ships in the port of Rotterdam from small to large and huge. I photograph them all from the harbor quay.
The radar post in the background the storage sheds and the harbor quay is full of buildings. The harbor needs a lot of space and so do the ships. It is a hive of activity and the traffic post ensures that the shipping traffic is well directed.
Raw and the port as it is, the people who work there. I like to photograph the images I see there because it is art in itself. The harbor is a different world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships, the people and the landscape continue to fascinate me.
