The north of Barbados does not match the rest of the island at all. While the turquoise sea and kilometre-long sandy beaches dominate the rest of the island, real forces of nature reign here around the Animal Flower Cave at the northernmost point of the island. A rough wind, powerful waves and splashing spray replace the cocktail and beach atmosphere of the rest of the island - to the delight of little adventurers. The "Animal Flower Cave" is located at the northernmost point of Barbados in the parish of St.Lucy. The name "Animal Flower Cave" comes from the sea anemones that have been found in the pools of the cave. Some of these pools are deep enough to swim in. There are also several openings overlooking the sea that offer spectacular views! The walls of the cave are full of interesting formations that have been coloured green and brown by oxidation of copper and iron.
