Another photo of mine that you can find at Work on the Wall describes the trip to the beach that can be seen just past this point if you look to the right: Balos beach in Crete. One of the most beautiful beaches in all of Crete. Crystal clear shallow water and a beautiful white sandy beach.
Here at this point, you don't see much of that. It almost looks like a moonscape, is how I found it. Rough rocks, dry bushes here and there and especially a lot of this orange-like dusty ground. Contrast that with the bare mountain you see on the left in the photo and you feel like you're on another planet. Another thing I really liked on the day I took this picture was that row of clouds just above the horizon. Had you already seen those? I found them very distinctive and I love that I was able to capture that moment like that, without anyone being visible in this photo. That is not so easy in the high season, but patience is a virtue.
