For work, I got to go to Salt Lake City, Utah again. As a landscape photographer, among other things, Utah is one of my favourite states in America. I had a few days off and this time I drove towards the "Badlands", near Hanksville.
Here I had found some points to photograph and the "Moonscape Overlook" was at the top of my list. I had got up early because I wanted to be here before sunrise. After 4 hours of driving, I had to get off the highway and it was another half-hour drive on a so-called "dirt road".
It was still dark and fortunately the last stretch was doable by car. I was very curious to see what the view would be like. I had seen some pictures and they looked very promising. Once we arrived at the pinned location, it was a bit of a wait for some light.
My expectations were far exceeded! What a view and scenery. At the edge of the canyon, I got my camera and tripod ready and it was waiting for hopefully a beautiful sunrise.
The wait was rewarded, Mother Nature at her best. For this shot, I took several vertical shots that I merged afterwards into one big panoramic photo.
With this, it was half over for me. The other half to make the work suitable for my shop at work on the wall, I do at home with the necessary post-processing in various photo programs. All in all, this takes time, but if the end result is what I had in mind, I am very satisfied and this work will not look out of place on your wall.
