About ‘Back with colour to the 1970s. Hand-painted with oil pastel.’ by Ineke de Rijk
Colour was an item in the 1970s. Colour was what we needed back then, it gave our lives , and actually still does , colour to the sometimes gloomy life, it makes you happy! Round soft shapes , a bit psychedelic, something that doesn't actually exist but it gives a wonderfully playful feeling to a non-existent world. A sense of freedom…

Ineke de Rijk's inspiring travels
From the Algarve to The GambiaI have time to draw and paint more after years of volunteer work for the St. Care Foundation The Gambia. Inspiration I got in the Gambia where I also lived. The colors, the population and life is a great source of inspiration. But also the quieter life now is inspiring to use softer colours and to work more with pastel chalk. But still it's nice to work in all kinds of colours and to try out new techniques and new materials.
