The aurora is a phenomenon of light in the Earth's atmosphere. It is often a light glow or consists of moving arcs, rays or curtains of light; very rarely it is even flaming. Sometimes there is an arch on the northern horizon from which the rays of light shoot up like searchlights.
The aurora is especially visible at high geographical latitudes. One speaks of northern lights (aurora borealis) and southern lights (aurora australis). As the phenomenon can only be seen in darkness and the light is very long at high latitudes in summer, the phenomenon is especially visible in winter.
The subjects I look for are nature, mostly landscapes, but also animals and plants can come in front of the lens. Especially dramatic images appeal to me. Sometimes I also look for more graphic and abstract images. For me it's all about just making the images that make.. Read more…
