This cute little flower grew in a front yard in the town of Geervliet, Netherlands. This is located in the vicinity of Spijkenisse.
During a walk around and through this town and the surrounding villages I saw these beautiful purple flowers. Because the sun was shining through the branches and leaves of a tree, there was only sunlight on this piece and the rest was in the shade. This gave me this beautiful contrast between the flowers in the sun and those in the shade.
Aubrieta, blue cushion, is an evergreen perennial whose best known original species (Aubrieta deltoidea) possesses tiny blue flowers. Flowering starts early after a mild winter as early as about mid-March and can continue into May if the weather is persistently cool. The blooms can be so rich that sometimes you can't see the leaves anymore.
