About ‘At the Fair in the dark’ by Marco Theunissen

In this picture of the fairground after dark, the sky is deep black, with brightly coloured lights illuminating the surroundings. The attractions shine in neon colours, such as pink, blue and yellow, reflecting on the wet ground of the fairground. People walk among the various stalls and attractions, their faces illuminated by the lights. Background music sounds faintly, while the carousel and other machines spin merrily. The atmosphere is lively, but at the same time magical and mysterious because of the darkness that makes the lights and colours stand out.
