The inflorescence of arum calyxes consists of a floral spadix (spadix) composed of three parts. At the bottom are the female flowers, above them are the male flowers (with above them a number of infertile male flowers that have grown like protrusions that serve to stop insects once they are inside) and at the top is a large protrusion called the appendix. The inflorescence is surrounded by a large bract (spatha) that protrudes far upwards.
