You almost can't believe that this beautiful building, and especially the entrance hall, is supposed to be a railway station: Antwerp Central Station is one of the most beautiful in the world. Framed by two towers and spanned by a dome, the large hall is reminiscent of a ballroom in a castle or a cathedral - and is therefore popularly known as the "railway cathedral". In the black-and-white photograph, one can see the many details of this imposing building: on several levels and in different building materials (mainly marble), the baroque structure with all its balustrades and arches can thus be seen. Through extensive restorations and an extension as a through station, the station is now a central hub of the city and one of the most famous sights. Nostalgic and modern at the same time - even the antique clock above the stairs still shows the current time. You can only tell by the digital advertising displays and the signs that the station from 1895 has survived and been preserved until our time - an architectural masterpiece! The picture is also available in colour.
