About "Ancient walls of the Roman Forum in the Eternal City of Rome"

About the artwork

This charming photographic ancient cityscape was taken with the Nikon D90 during my photo holiday trip to the Italian capital, Rome.
The Roman Forum (Roman Marketplace) in Rome is the oldest Roman forum and was the centre of political, economic, cultural and religious life. It lies in a depression between the three city hills of Capitoline, Palatine and Esquiline and was the site of many public buildings and monuments. Originally a marshy valley crossed by a stream, according to ancient tradition, which does not agree with archaeological evidence dating back to probably the 8th century BC, it was not incorporated into the city until the legendary Etruscan king Lucius Tarquinius Priscus at the beginning of the 6th century BC. It experienced the peak of its splendid expansion in the Roman Imperial period. Today it is one of the most important excavation sites of ancient Rome.
