Würzburg is a kreisfreie Stadt in the northwest of the German state of Bavaria. The city lies on the River Main and is the capital of the Regierungsbezirk Lower Franconia (Lower Franconia). The old town of Würzburg is located on the right bank of the Main. Of the various bridges over the river, the Alte Mainbrücke is the oldest. This medieval bridge was decorated with twelve baroque statues of saints in the 18th century. Domstrasse forms the connection between the bridge and St. Kilian's Cathedral.
