About ‘An elephant in a hot-air balloon amongst the clouds and stars’ by Lina van Oers

A cheerful and dreamy children’s room illustration of a little elephant floating through the air in a hot-air balloon. The elephant is sitting in a brown basket and is wearing a warm hat and a long red-and-white-striped scarf. His trunk points cheerfully upwards.

The hot-air balloon features broad vertical stripes in soft terracotta, greyish blue and white. Yellow stars and soft white clouds float around the balloon, giving the illustration a truly adventurous, dreamlike atmosphere.

The calm colours and simple shapes make this design ideal for a nursery or children’s bedroom. It fits well with an aviation, travel or animal theme and combines beautifully with a Scandinavian or retro interior. The hot-air balloon and the little elephant give the image a sense of freedom, imagination and discovery. A lovely eye-catcher above a cot, changing table or reading corner.
