The Damrak leads from Amsterdam Central Station to Dam Square. As the centre of the city, the Damrak is a busy thoroughfare with souvenir shops, hotels and restaurants. The Damrak is the original mouth of the Amstel. The body of water you see here is all that remains of the former harbour. The gabled houses on the waterfront are among the most picturesque in the city.
