White amaryllis with directional illumination. The amaryllis originates from the daffodil family. The amaryllis is mainly known as a real Christmas flower. The botanical name of the amaryllis is Hippeastrum and was chosen by William Herbert in 1821. Dutch growers started to develop all kinds of hybrids of the flower from the beginning of the 18th century.
