Altea, one of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Blanca in Spain. With its narrow streets and whitewashed houses, it is a popular and charming place for holidaymakers. With many small stores, hidden squares and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, it is a pleasure to stroll through the town. Old cobblestone streets lead you to the top to the church Nuestra Señora del Consuelo. Altea has been an artist town since the 18th century. In the white houses are often galleries and craft workshops. On the lively and long boulevard there are many terraces, bars and restaurants. Behind the boulevard is the shopping street with beautiful (chic) stores. Thanks to the mild climate, Altea and its surroundings are also a good place to be in winter. In the beautiful hinterland are several routes for both hikers and mountain bikers and beautiful valleys and villages to discover.
I have lived here for almost 8 years and can say that it never bores. The possibilities are enormous and the mild climate enhances all that. The summer is too hot for us, so we usually leave for the Netherlands in July to early September.
The picture was taken in Casco Antigua, the old and high part of Altea. When the moon appears and the evenings are balmy it is a cozy lot in the many streets! Maybe you also have a nice memory of Altea... ;-)!
