Alpine marmots can be found in the Austrian mountains. If you listen carefully you can hear the marmots shouting; they seem to whistle. They stand still when they are on the lookout, so you can sometimes easily overlook these mountain animals. Along the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße and in Gastein I have seen and photographed many marmots.
