About the artwork
Alone in the dark: A lonely lantern with abstract reflection" is a photo of a beautiful lantern of a Physalis alkekengi (in the Netherlands this plant is also called Lampionplant). This lantern has already partly decayed, leaving only a golden vein structure and the orange berry.
The lantern lies on a ground with a structure in it and because this ground is made of a kind of reflective material, a somewhat abstract painting-like reflection is created in the ground. It looks just like a reflection in water. I tried to set the lighting when taking this picture so that the lantern stands out nicely against the dark background and also the reflection.
If you zoom in on the work, you can see how nicely the grain structure can be seen in this piece.
