About the artwork

Alkmaar, city of cheese, canals and history.
On Verdronkenoord, the famous Waag stands proudly in the middle of the city. For me, this was a magical moment to capture: the historic facades reflect in the calm water, while the evening sky slowly turns blue.

What makes this place so special is its tranquillity. While the city center is bustling with life, here time seems to stand still for a moment. The warm lighting of the buildings and the Waag gives it a fairy-tale feel, enhanced by the mirror-smooth water.

With my camera on a tripod, I waited patiently for the right moment: the blue hour. This short window between day and night provided exactly the atmosphere I was looking for, a perfect balance between brightness and warmth.

At home, I carefully post-processed the shot, paying attention to detail and colour. My goal was simple: to bring the experience I felt on the spot as close as possible to the viewer.

The result is a cityscape that shows the charm of Alkmaar in all its glory. An image that not only captures the beauty of the city, but also evokes a sense of tranquillity and timelessness. A unique addition to any wall that continues to captivate time and again.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
