Ali Baba and the Forty Robbers is a fairy tale from A Thousand and One Nights of Scheherazade. However, the story was only added in the 18th century by the Frenchman Antoine Galland, the first European translator of the work. The so-called Persian story is said to originate from the Red Sea region of Sudan in Africa.
The story is about Ali Baba who happens to see a troop of robbers opening their treasury with the magic spell "Sesame, open you". When the robbers leave, Ali Baba opens the treasure room to fill his pockets. The robbers discover him, but together with his clever slave girl Morgiana, Ali Baba defeats the robbers.
