The Albertstrand or Albert Beach in Knokke (Belgium) originates from 1921, when the seawall that protected Knokke collapsed in a storm. A year later the dike was rebuilt about one hundred meters further inland, creating a new patch of beach, that was named after Belgium’s King Albert I. On some parts of the beach, you can still feel the 1920s vibe.
