After the rain: Waterfall with rainbow in Iceland

by Lemon Dessin : Monika Lechner

In this picturesque landscape, nature and colour come together in a moment of tranquillity after the rain. A rainbow arches over a rolling valley, connecting the sky with the landscape. In the distance, dark mountains stand out against a cloudy sky, while the land below glows in soft shades of green, red and ochre.

In the foreground are silhouettes of faded plants, almost graphic in form. Their fine lines stand out against the colourful landscape and bring a sense of depth and tranquillity to the image. The contrast between the dark plants and the light rainbow slowly draws the eye through the work, from close up to the distance.

The work is constructed using a loose, painterly technique in which transparent layers and soft transitions combine to create a dreamlike atmosphere. The colours and shapes refer to the moment when a landscape changes after a rain shower: when the light returns and nature seems to light up for a moment.

The combination of earthy tones and bright colours brings warmth and liveliness to an interior. It can soften a space and at the same time add a striking colour accent, making it suitable for both a tranquil living space and a more colourful interior.
