About "Abstract retro graphics in the style of the Casablanca Art School"

About the artwork

The Casablanca Art School is known for its role as a centre of cultural renewal and post-colonial modern art in Morocco. The school was a driving force behind the development of a modern art scene in Morocco after the country's independence in 1956 and its main exponents include Farid Belkahia, Mohammed Chabâa, Bert Flint, Toni Maraini and Mohamed Melehi. These artists combined Western influences with local traditions to create a unique art form. The school promoted the combination of art, craft, design and architecture and advocated the integration of art into everyday life. The school was instrumental in shaping the Moroccan art scene and giving it a transnational significance. This poster takes up the style and shows an abstract work of art with flowing forms in retro colours.
