Creating abstract artworks from ordinary everyday things is something I particularly enjoy doing. The basis of my artworks is always a photo or painting of my own hand.
Such is the case with this abstract artwork, which shows a spiral shape. A spiral shape that resembles a vortex or a whirlwind. The bright saturated colours spiral around each other and seem to mix with each other. They are earthy colours, colours you also find in nature. Blue, green, yellow and brown are nicely balanced with each other in this spiral shape.
The original photo used for this work was taken of an object we will all find in our homes. I mixed up several photos of this object and the end result of this was further digitally processed and distorted. Finally, this spiral was created.
In a vortex or whirlwind, everything seems to be sucked towards the centre and disappear from view. But maybe this is not so. Maybe there is something else behind the centre of this spiral, something that we cannot perceive at the moment. Something that exists only in your imagination. Something you are only allowed to fantasise about!
That is the power of an abstract work of art. There is room for fantasy and imagination.
So go in search of what your feelings tell you about this and meanwhile enjoy the beautiful saturated colours in this special spiral.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
