This is a photo of an abandoned gasometer that I shot three years ago. A gasometer is basically used to temporarily store gas that was recovered from coal or a factory and used for industrial or private purposes. In the first half of the 20th century this was a very common type of building. Most of the gasometers have since then been demolished due to the introduction of natural gas.
