Arizona is known for its desert climate in its southern half, with very hot summers and mild winters. This landscape can be found arount Phoenix and Scottsdale. The wonderful saguaro is an arborescent tree-like cactus species in the monotypic genus Carnegiea, which can grow to be over 20 m tall. The night-blooming flowers appear Mai through June. This shot was taken by the beginning of June. The flowers open well after sunset and remain open till lunchtime of the next day.
