A view of the sea through the white rocks

by Jeroen Berendse

About this work:
Between two gently sloping white marl cliffs at Punta Bianca, on the south coast of Sicily, a narrow vista opens out onto the Mediterranean Sea. The soft, rounded forms of the limestone appear almost sculpted, with fine cracks and lines that betray the interplay of wind and water. The deep-blue water and the clear sky with light cumulus clouds lend the composition a fresh, minimalist feel. This piece is all about simplicity: white, blue and space. It brings a sense of summer tranquillity and freedom into the home and fits beautifully into a light, modern or Scandinavian interior, for example in a living room or bedroom.

About Jeroen Berendse:
In my day job, I’m a marketer. That means listening carefully to and observing customers, and using that knowledge to devise relevant solutions. As a photographer, I actually do the same thing, with the difference that I mainly listen closely to myself.

Photography is a way of telling a story. Captured in the perfect still image. A good photograph takes you in your mind’s eye to a special place in the world, an event that makes you smile, or sets your creative mind to work. And because this is very personal, the same photograph evokes a unique experience and feeling in everyone – both the photographer and the viewer.

My portfolio contains photographs of a wide variety of subjects. You can find my full portfolio in my shop at Werk aan de Muur and on my website www.jeroenberendse.nl.
