A square grid in fiery red and icy blue by Lisette Rijkers

This photograph shows a beautiful contrast between red and blue. The red is warm and evokes associations with fire and flames. The blue is cool and evokes ice and snow. Two contrasting colours that also complement and enhance one another.
This abstract and geometric artwork is based on an ordinary photograph of a light effect. This light effect can be seen somewhere in a museum. A remarkable light effect, with a constantly changing interplay between blue and red.
The photograph has been digitally transformed into a different pattern and duplicated. Both photographs have been merged in a mirrored arrangement. A grid pattern consisting of a multitude of small squares has been superimposed over the merged photographs.
The addition of this grid pattern allows the two photographs to blend beautifully into one another. The grid over the fiery red is a cool blue and transitions into a fiery red over the ice-cold blue.
An intriguing photograph has been created – one that continues to fascinate you and makes you linger just a little longer. There are various patterns of light effects to discover.
This contrasting piece of art fits perfectly into a modern interior where there may already be a touch of red or a touch of blue.
