A row of trees in a field beneath a vast sky

by Ralf Lehmann

A striking row of trees in autumn colours stretches across a field of low vegetation, with tracks left by farm machinery and a blue sky dotted with wispy clouds – Location: Germany, Saxony

A long row of slender deciduous trees stretches across the crest of a gently sloping field, forming a clear horizontal line between the landscape and the sky. The fresh green of the farmland contrasts harmoniously with the subtle shades of yellow and green in the foliage. Above it stretches a vast sky with fine wispy clouds, which lend the scene a sense of lightness and depth.

The photograph thrives on its tranquil composition and the natural balance between earth and sky. The row of trees acts as a unifying element in the open landscape and guides the eye through the image. The clear structures, the gentle undulations of the terrain and the muted colours create a relaxed, timeless atmosphere.

The image was taken whilst observing the typical Central European cultural landscape in Saxony. The deliberate choice of a low vantage point emphasises the effect of the row of trees on the horizon and enhances the sense of spatial depth. The natural lighting and the delicate cloud formations were captured without any staged interventions.

As a wall hanging, this motif is particularly well-suited to living and working spaces where a sense of tranquillity, expansiveness and a connection to nature is to be conveyed. The clean lines and balanced colour palette blend harmoniously into both modern and classic interiors, creating an unobtrusive focal point.
