About ‘A Lotus Salute to Eternity’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

Before the gleaming chedi of Wat Phra That Phanom, where the wind carries tales from centuries past across the plains of the Mekong, the statue’s golden hands rest in silent devotion. In their centre, the lotus blossom unfolds, delicate yet full of strength, as if breathing the light itself. It seems born from the heart of the earth and yet descended from the heavens, a symbol of purity amidst a world that never stands still.
Here, in the sacred space of Isan, the lotus becomes a bridge between the earthly and the awakened. It reminds us that clarity can arise even from the deepest mud, that every step on the path of the spirit is an opening, a gentle blossoming. The statue holds this truth like a gift, like an invitation to all who stand before it: to find one’s own lotus, to nurture it, to unfold it.
Thus the scene becomes a silent prayer of gold and light, a moment in which time stands still and the soul remembers that purity is not far away, but already shines within.
