The digital artwork "Skyline Utrecht" captures the quiet grandeur of a city nestled under a vast, night sky. The composition is dominated by sky - a profound space that gradually changes from almost black at the upper edge to a warm evening red towards the horizon. This subtle colour gradient suggests the last light of day, a transitional moment where silence and mystery converge.
Under this imposing sky rises Utrecht's recognisable skyline, rendered in deep black silhouette. The buildings are minimalist but unmistakable, with the undisputed eye-catcher being the Dom Tower, which proudly and stately forms the highest point. Its stylised contour cuts through the colour gradient like an anchor, a visual reminder of the city's history and identity.
The simplicity of the use of colour and the clean shapes give the sculpture a serene, almost meditative atmosphere. The city's lack of detail keeps the focus on the interplay between sky and silhouette, light and dark, day and night. The work invites reflection - not only on Utrecht as a place, but also on the passage of time and the contrast between the changeable sky and the steadfast city.
"Skyline Utrecht" is thus both a tribute to the city and a contemplative play with light and emptiness. The digital character emphasises abstraction, while the atmosphere remains recognisable and tangible.
