This digital artwork shows an understated yet intriguing still life, executed entirely in warm shades of brown. Central to the composition is an old-fashioned metal pencil sharpener, robust and slightly weathered, placed on a small, stylised mirror. The pencil sharpener, with its clean lines and industrial look, contrasts subtly with the softness of the use of colour. The metal has a matt sheen, which is broken by two small, bright spots of light in the screw on the front - as if the object itself comes to life for a moment in the play of light and shadow.
The mirror below the sharpener is stylised and simple in form. A soft reflection of the pencil sharpener appears in the smooth mirror surface, slightly distorted by the curvature and imperfections of the glass. This reflection adds an extra dimension to the image: a duplicate that is just slightly less sharp and tactile than the real object above it.
The limited colour palette enhances the sobriety and contemplative mood of the work. The overall composition exudes calm and simplicity, but on closer inspection invites reflection on function, material and impermanence. The artwork transforms an everyday object into something iconic, almost poetic, through minimalist design and subtle play with light and shadow.
