"Hofstraat 9" is the second digital artwork in a series of nine, in which the artist builds an intimate visual narrative around personal living spaces. This work focuses on the front door of the artist's own home, located on the street of the same name. With an eye for detail and a keen sense of symbolism, the door is presented not merely as an architectural object, but as a gateway to memory, identity and introspection.
The artwork shows a frontal view of the front door, in high resolution and with subtle editing techniques that highlight the textures of wood, paint and glass. Light plays an important role: the soft, diffuse daylight reveals the weathering on the frame and the marks of years of use. Small details - an old house number, a nameplate, a piece of scaffolding - contribute to an atmosphere of lived-in time.
The digital composition uses an almost photographic realism, but with nuances reminiscent of painting: the use of colour is warm, layered and slightly melancholic. The door acts as a metaphor for transition, protection and vulnerability - themes that recur throughout the series.
As the second work in the series, "Hofstraat 9" forms a bridge between the private and the universal. The viewer is invited to consider the stories hidden behind seemingly mundane facades, and the deeper meaning of 'home' in an ever-changing world.
