Waltraud von R. – A fusion of tradition and digital vision
About the artist
Waltraud von R. was born on 19 October 1973 in Vorarlberg, Austria, and can look back on an impressive artistic career. She developed her deep understanding of form and structure during her training at the Technical College for Wood and Stone Sculpture. She consistently broadened her horizons through distance learning to become a graphic designer, illustrator and advertising photographer.
As a true globetrotter, she found inspiration in a wide variety of places around the world before settling on the tropical island of Mahé in the Seychelles. There, between the sound of the Indian Ocean and the tranquillity of her studio, she brings her visions to life.
Artistic process
Waltraud von R. bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and the boundless possibilities of the future. Whilst her roots lie in the tactile work with wood and stone, she has now digitised her tools. Her works are created through a complex, multi-stage process:
AI-assisted vision: She uses artificial intelligence to explore the basic compositions and atmospheric concepts of her works.
Digital refinement: In a masterful combination of Photoshop and Corel Painter, she actively intervenes in the digital process.
