About Irene Lommers

Fascinated by all things natural, Irene began observing, discovering and capturing the world with her first analogue Kodak camera at the age of 12. At 16, she was introduced to the darkroom and everything that goes with it, the old-fashioned way. But it wasn’t until 2009 that she got down to serious work. Thanks to an inheritance from her father, she was able to buy her first SLR camera, the Canon 500D, which has since been replaced by the Canon 7D. Together with the necessary lenses, she uses this every day to capture what she considers to be special moments in nature.In August 2012, she set up her own home-based photo gallery. And in the same year, she held an exhibition on the beautiful island of Goeree-Overflakkee. Her photographs have also been published in photography magazines such as Zoom and Photo Chip-Video. In 2013, she began experimenting with atmospheric photography and multiple exposures, for which she received much acclaim. Her images are now often dreamlike and always tell a story. She also frequently accompanies her work with poems, which adds an extra atmospheric dimension to her pieces.
