In my teenage years, I was always up to date with the latest tech gadgets in computers, phones, digital cameras and so on. Especially the technical aspect attracted me. Building computers, making websites and photography, all 'hobbies'. I called it photography, but taking snapshots was probably a better word. Little attention was paid to what the images showed, as long as the sharpness was right ;-). Eventually, the camera went into the closet when the starting gun sounded for my life as a working IT professional....
As I (of)myself got a year older, I slowly shifted the focus in my work from technology to people-oriented and creative. Eventually, I was known for my presentations without text. Okay, with very, very little text then and mostly images. Effective for challenging people's imagination and arousing new ideas and insights.
Shooting a picture yourself became easier than looking for a long time. Now it was not the technique, but my search for a suitable picture that made me grab the camera out of the closet again. Or yes, actually, spent a small fortune to buy good gear. That love for technology is bound to stay. Anyway, photography, I'm going to do more with that!
I have now traded in my office job behind a laptop for working with the camera. And I like it.... Meeting people and making memories. Enjoying nature for the necessary work on the wall. In short, enjoying being creative.
