My name is Annemarie ten Hacken born in Breda, 1956. Living in 's-Hertogenbosch.
All my life I have been drawing and painting animals: dogs, horses, birds, but also cats and wild animals, regularly children and people. I draw and paint realistic, figurative and from the beginning of my career as an artist I have been commissioned to make portraits.
I am self-taught and the anatomical knowledge through my other work (in health care) helps me to bring more depth to my works. The challenge for me is to bring the look and character of animals and humans into my work, as if it were alive, as if it were looking at you.
I work with acrylic paint, watercolor, pen and ink, pencil and mixed materials. As grounds for acrylics I work on canvas, prepared paper but also on wood, such as wooden panels.
