DENMARK – Jutland on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Silva Wischeropp

The dune landscape at Henne Strand on the Danish west coast is distinguished by its exceptional height, vastness, and its transition into sheltered woodlands. While most coastal dunes are relatively low-lying, the formations here tower up to 25 meters high—overshadowed by the even loftier Blåbjerg Dune (64 meters) situated in the hinterland. At 25 meters, Tuttesbjerg offers panoramic views of the town and the North Sea. The nearby Blåbjerg Dune is considered one of the highest points in the region, providing sweeping vistas that extend deep into the interior of the country. Located just south of Henne, a unique woodland area harbors a rare blend of shifting dunes, heathlands, and gnarled oak forests. The landscape showcases the classic ecological transition from salt-tolerant coastal vegetation (such as marram grass) to the sheltered heathlands and woodlands to the east—habitats teeming with wildlife, including deer.
