About the artwork

In an impressive, surreal scene, five completely different creatures sit side by side on a quay wall, united in silent waiting. A majestic Siberian eagle owl, whose sharp gaze is directed into the shimmering distance, looks like a guardian of wisdom. Next to him rests a powerful tiger, its orange-black fur exposed to the merciless sun. Next to it is a lumbering walrus, its body reminiscent of a life in the water that has long since evaporated here. A man, pensive and lost, stares blankly into nothingness, his hands in his lap as if he has given up all hope. Finally, an imposing elephant, its grey skin looking dusty, its huge ears heavy from the heat and exhaustion.

An endless, arid landscape stretches out before them. The ground is cracked, cracked by the merciless sun, which bathes the sky in an unreal light. Not a single blade of grass, no water, just hot air that emphasises the desolation. Everything seems still, caught in a moment of waiting.

Despite their differences, they share the same fate: waiting for the end of the drought, for the redemptive rain that refuses to come. They are witnesses to transience, symbols of a world in which even the strongest become powerless. The picture is more than a scene - it is a silent cry for hope, a haunting metaphor for the fragility of nature and the connection of all living beings in the face of the climate crisis. There is a universal truth in this silent communion: in the end, we are all waiting - for what is to come.
