Observing the Great Crested Grebe courtship is certainly one of the most impressive natural experiences that our local nature has to offer. Here, one Great Crested Grebe swims slowly away in front, making sure that its partner follows. The excitement is shown by the beautifully erect feathered cap. To express mutual affection, both partners shake their heads. The picture was taken early in the morning with the sun rising and a light morning mist over the water, which gives the picture a very special atmosphere and does not distract from the courting pair of Great Crested Grebes.
