The blue iris (Iris germanica) is a native plant in southern Europe. The plant is the botanical name also called German iris. The name Blue Iris is also used for Iris spuria, which, however, is smaller and smaller and less blue flowers. The plant in Germany called Deutsche Schwertlilie, is the name flag. Because the American blue iris (Iris versicolor) and Iris laevigata be called blue iris, is often not simple to keep description separated
