For this abstract work, I painted and manipulated my own paper as a basis for making a collage. I pasted this paper to arrive at this composition. Because of this manual way of working, creases and wrinkles are visible in the paper. Some of this gives it a lived-in and grunge effect. The charm of manual artistic impression versus the smooth perfect images created digitally. The warm orange and pink colours give this work a positive atmosphere in the room. This is a cutaway from a slightly larger work in my shop. The composition gives me an association with sports, is the ball in or out, inside the line or over the line. Has it been scored, has it been won? The splashes bring dynamism, the ball seems to move or bounce. The colour and the stripes on the round shape make me think extra strongly of a tennis ball.
