De Rotterdam on Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam was designed by architect Rem Koolhaas. The building is part of the transformation of the former Wilhelminapier, where large ships arrived and departed, into a residential/working area. The huge building, one of the largest in the Netherlands, can be seen as a vertical city with a mix of different functions: housing, offices, conference rooms, a hotel, shops, restaurants and a parking garage. The towers stagger halfway relative to each other. This sharp horizontal cut divides the towers into lowrise and highrise sections and creates space for terraces, overhangs and linkages. The funny thing is further that from every perspective, De Rotterdam looks different.
