't Mirnser Klif is a remnant of the lateral moraine that forms the subsoil of Gaasterland. The Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer) eroded part of that moraine, creating a steep edge called a cliff. The stones are a reminder of the land ice that once deposited those moraines here.
This HDR shot shows part of the beach and the steep edge near Mirns. It is widely used for recreation.
